Chaïma and Mustafa's civil ceremony was held in Grasse, a picturesque town nestled in the heart of the French Riviera. Grasse is set atop foothills that encroach the southern tip of the Alps so when you arrive for the first time, you are greeted by stunning panoramic views of the Provence (stretching as far as the Mediterranean sea). Grasse also has a well-preserved town centre which offered guests a glimpse into it's storied heritage as they strolled along the footpaths and alleyways.
As for the wedding reception, friends and family were hosted in Mougins - a quiet village just a few kilometers from Grasse. Mougins is also known for its scenic landscape, characterised by olive groves and pine forests. The grounds surrounding the venue itself were meticulously groomed and offered plenty of room for the wedding festivities.
Chaïma chose a lavender theme for the venue decoration. Incidentally, 2019 happened to be the 'year of lavender' for the local perfume industry so if you were in town at the time, you will have noticed lavender everywhere. The dining tables were lined with lavender and rose blooms, vintage glassware and antique candelabras. Twinkling fairy lights were draped from the marquee-ceiling to make the festivities all the more magical. For the wedding favors, Mustafa's family had prepared handcrafted pouches - each filled with lavender seeds for guests to take home as aromatic souvenirs. Needless to say, the fragrant arrangements were a great compliment to the sense of calm and tranquility.
